HCF-36L or HCF-36R

Two models side by side: measurements taken by the author in their reviews, and their conclusions. The better value in each row is highlighted.

In brief: Based on review measurements: Ripple: HCF-36L (300 mV vs. 370); Efficiency: HCF-36R (86 % vs. 84); Temperature rise: HCF-36L (102 °C vs. 120).

HCF-36L: Ripple is tolerable, but the unit generates substantial interference; the author does not recommend it.

HCF-36R: Suitable for only about 18–20 W continuous output; at 2 A the diode heats to nearly 120 °C.
