USB 3.0 - HDD, or what to do with a 2.5-inch hard drive.
30-05-2015, 19:11
It’s not uncommon to have an unused 2.5-inch hard drive lying around. For example, after upgrading to a larger one. You can put the old drive on a shelf, or pop it into an enclosure and get a fast “flash drive” with a pretty decent capacity. This is a review of an external hard drive enclosure.
FL-4H-LCD-D, or a charger from an unknown manufacturer.

The batteries at home started multiplying unexpectedly, and since I also needed to test quite a few of them, I decided to get a charger with a capacity measurement function. But buying the well-known Opus, Soshine, or iMax would have been too obvious, so I decided to try a charger that few people have heard of. As always, the rest of the story is below the fold.
Thermally conductive rubber
28-05-2015, 13:08
The first time I saw thermally conductive rubber was many years ago in CD-ROM drives, where it was used to transfer heat from the motor drivers to the drive housing. At the time, I didn't think much about how useful something like that could be. But much later, I realized it could come in handy, so out of curiosity I ordered a couple of pieces in different thicknesses to try out. If you're interested, come on in.

A set of assorted attachments for a handheld rotary tool.
17-05-2015, 03:00
Not long ago, my fellow reviewer Ksiman reviewed a similar set. As it happened, I ordered a set from the same series at almost the same time. It took me a while to get around to writing a review, but here it is at last. If you're interested, read on.
What Is an Astro Timer, or Another Useful Little Gadget.
14-05-2015, 02:06
I needed a lighting control timer for a project. The lighting (a sign) had to switch on after dark. Usually, people just install a photocell switch for this, but it has its drawbacks. I decided to tackle the problem with a special timer.
Povos PQ8602, an electric shaver from China.
10-05-2015, 10:56
Like most men, I have a habit of shaving in the morning. Some use a razor, others an electric shaver. I got used to using an electric shaver from the start, though I sometimes shave with a razor too, depending on my mood. This review is about an electric shaver. If you're interested, come on in.
