Frequently asked questions
Where do the figures in the measurement database come from?
From the reviews on this blog. The program reads each review and extracts values along with a quote; verification keeps only values that appear verbatim in the review text. Each row links to the review itself.
Can figures from different reviews be compared?
They can be used as a rough guide, but test conditions vary: the load, input voltage, temperature and instruments were different. Check the measurement conditions in the review before buying.
Why is a dash shown for some devices?
It means that value isn’t in the review text. It’s often shown in a photo of the display or in a graph, but the database doesn’t include those figures because they can’t be verified against a quote.
What do current, voltage and power mean in the table?
These are the device’s rated specifications. The “In test” column shows the highest power the author achieved on the test bench, while ripple, efficiency, temperature rise and capacity are always measured by the author.
How often is the database updated?
Automatically: a new review is added within a few minutes of publication, and an updated review is reread once a day.
