Samsung INR21700-48X batteries from VapCell
13-03-2021, 23:12
These batteries are neither high-current nor high-capacity, but they caught my interest because they’re rarely covered in reviews. I thought it was worth filling that gap.
Vapcell Boston Power Swing 5300 Batteries in an Unusual Form Factor
10-03-2021, 02:58
I got these batteries for a review for two reasons: a request from readers and plain old curiosity. Although I had read a review of them before, this is the first time I’ve held them in my hands.
Milwaukee M18 Power Tool Battery
1-03-2021, 02:27
I got this battery mostly just out of curiosity for the review, though that doesn't rule out using it for its intended purpose. But, as often happens with products in certain categories, "something went wrong". Still, it's best to find out all about it in the review.
Samsung INR21700-50G Batteries from VapCell
19-02-2021, 14:41
More genuine batteries sold by the Vapcell store—this time, the relatively new Samsung INR21700-50G cells, notable for their high capacity and discharge current of up to 14.7 A.
Murata US18650VC7 Batteries from Vapcell
18-02-2021, 13:20
I’ve already reviewed quite a few different batteries, and in one review I mentioned that Sony/Murata also makes a high-capacity VC7 model. Now I’ve got these batteries in hand for testing.
LTO 18650 batteries with a capacity of 1500 mAh
Lithium titanate batteries have been on the market for quite a while, but somehow I hadn't got around to trying any until now. So I decided to fill that gap and order a couple to test and satisfy my curiosity. A closer look, tests, and a little bonus.
LiitoKala LiFePO4 batteries with a claimed capacity of 30 Ah
3-02-2021, 17:11
I’ve already reviewed LiitoKala batteries with a claimed capacity of 32 Ah, but those were sent to me by one of my readers. This time, I bought similar batteries myself, though with a different claimed capacity and from a different seller. In short, things aren’t looking too good. Read on for the full review.
Bluetooth module for the Fnirsi FNB48 USB tester and a brief look at the software
27-01-2021, 17:16
Not long ago, I posted a review of the new Fnirsi FNB48 USB tester and mentioned that both a Bluetooth module and software for it were expected. I received the module quite a while ago, but the software only arrived now, just as promised, so today I'm adding to my previous review.
USB hub for Raspberry Pi with built-in Ethernet adapter
7-01-2021, 22:02
While preparing various components to modify my electronic load, I ran into the problem of connecting USB devices and a local network to a tablet with just one USB port. The simplest solution is to use a USB hub, which is what I want to tell you about today.
Illuminated push-button switches for 16 mm mounting holes
6-01-2021, 15:59
For that same modification of one of my devices, I wanted some nice buttons—not just any buttons, but ones with backlighting. I found some on AliExpress, ordered them, got them, and put together a review in case they might come in handy for someone.
Frames for assembling battery packs from 32xx0 cells
6-01-2021, 02:06
While modifying yet another device, I needed some frames for assembling battery packs from 32700 cells. I ordered some, received them, and thought, why not put together a short review on the subject?
Osram vs. Gauss, or how I looked for a halogen replacement — updated a year later: it’s all bad
I was getting tired of replacing the capsule halogen bulbs in my desk lamp. I’d tried both name-brand and no-name ones, and the main difference was brightness. The lamp had also been on for 10–12 hours a day lately, so I decided to save some money and switch to something more modern—and see what was available on the market.
Mean Well LRS-350-48 Low-Profile Power Supply
4-01-2021, 12:20
A year ago, I reviewed the LRS-350-24 power supply. Today, here's a brief look at a model from the same series, but with a 48 V output. Since these power supplies differ essentially only in output voltage and current, this review will be short, but I hope it will still be useful.
A couple of options for stranded wire with silicone insulation
3-01-2021, 13:02
I recently bought a couple of types of silicone-insulated wire, in 8 and 12 AWG. I hadn't planned to write about them, but I liked the wire so much that I decided to put together a short review after all.
WZ5005 Adjustable Voltage Converter: Could It Be an Alternative to DPS Converters?
30-12-2020, 02:54
Thanks to one of my regular readers, I got my hands on a WZ5005 voltage converter. I wouldn't say it has anything particularly special going for it, but it could be an alternative to the popular DPS models from RuiDeng. More on that in the review.
New from Fnirsi: FNB48 USB tester
28-12-2020, 02:42
Some time ago, news emerged of a new FNB48 USB tester from Fnirsi, a young but fast-growing company. I thought this model looked interesting, so I decided to order one for a review. I was also curious to compare it with other testers, such as the rather expensive ZY1276 from YZXstudio.

25-12-2020, 00:05

Adjustable voltage converter RD6006P (not a review)

4 7602
20-12-2020, 04:51
RuiDeng continues to develop its line of adjustable voltage converters, the RD60xx series, and news of a new model appeared not long ago. But instead of the expected RD6024 with a 24 A output current, which was supposed to follow the RD6018 in the lineup, I decided to take a small “step back” and return to the 6006 model.
