Vorke V1 Plus Mini PC or the New Version
6-08-2017, 02:33
Last fall, I posted a review of the interesting Vorke V1 mini PC. It’s a pretty good machine: fast, doesn’t overheat, and lets you install a hard drive. Not long ago, an updated version with an Apollo Lake J3455 processor appeared on the market. I got interested, ordered one, and wrote a review. Of course, the review includes a look at the device, tests, a teardown, and a comparison with the previous version.
More LED panels: upgrading the scrolling display
6-08-2017, 01:33
Back in winter, I posted a review of 64x32-pixel RGB LED panels, which gave me a 192x32-pixel scrolling display. But, as I found out once again, the more you have, the more you want, so I decided to double the resolution—not by making it longer, but by making it taller. Anyway, if you're interested in this topic, come on in.
MX9 PRO, a mini TV box based on the RK3328
31-07-2017, 01:34
I got my hands on a small, basic TV box built around the Rockchip RK3328. There’s nothing particularly special about it, except perhaps its size, so I decided to put together a short review to match :)
12 V 3 A Power Supply for Access Control Systems
28-07-2017, 23:42
Quite a few of my recent reviews have started with the words, “Some time ago, I posted a review...” This time is no different. I previously reviewed a power supply for an access control system, but that one was a 12 V 5 A model with an uninterruptible power supply function. This time, it’s a simpler version. You can find out more in the review itself.
Homgeek, manual mini coffee maker for making espresso/lungo
22-07-2017, 00:57
Today I have a short review of a compact espresso maker. It’s an interesting little device, and in some situations it can even be useful. I’ll tell you all about it in the review, so if you’re curious, read on.
Inexpensive 12.6 V 3 A Charger
22-07-2017, 00:21
Just recently, I posted a couple of reviews of chargers, but as it happened, another one accidentally came my way. Unfortunately, it’s also a 12.6 V charger (for a 3S lithium battery pack), but I decided the review might be useful because of its low price. Alas, it’s not quite what I’d hoped for, but more on that in the review.
Another charger for assembling 3S Li-Ion battery packs
19-07-2017, 22:05
Another review of another small charger for 3S (12.6 V) battery packs. Not long ago, I published a review of the 3 A version; today, it’s a simpler 1 A model. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, but I won’t get ahead of myself—the details are in the review.
Bakon BK3200 soldering station with a claimed power rating of 120 W
19-07-2017, 11:09
I came across a rather interesting soldering station. Its claimed power rating of 120 W caught my attention, as did mentions I found online that it uses induction heating. Let's see what it's all about and take it apart while we're at it.
Affordable USB video capture device
16-07-2017, 03:31
We all live in the digital age now. It seems like everything is digital: TVs, computers, even household appliances are digitally controlled. But there are still situations where you need to work with analog signals, and that’s what today’s review is about.
Balancing connector with wires
14-07-2017, 23:04
This review is barely even a micro-review; it's more of a nano-review, it's so short. Still, I thought it might be useful to someone.
Good-quality holders for 18650 batteries
13-07-2017, 23:14
Another mini-review of various useful little things. This time, it’s holders for one or two 18650 batteries.
Gretel A7, a decent budget smartphone
13-07-2017, 11:01
Another smartphone has landed in my hands. This time, it’s a very budget-friendly model with a 4.7-inch screen. As always, it has its pros and cons. Let’s take a closer look and see whether it might be of interest to buyers.
Frames for assembling battery packs from 18500/18650 cells
12-07-2017, 01:33
Today I have not just a mini review, but a micro review. It’s about some very inexpensive but useful “helpers” for anyone who often uses battery packs made from 18500, 18650, and similar cells.
A review of various attachments for an oscillating tool
4-07-2017, 21:19
Last year I posted a review of a multitool, and as everyone knows, without various saw blades, sanding attachments, and so on, it’s not much use around the house. So I decided to stock up on a variety of attachments. Part of the reason was a gift card I received from one of the websites, and part was simply a desire to buy some useful things. Read on for all the details in the review.
Sony VTC6 batteries: high-current test
26-06-2017, 23:08
I got my hands on another batch of batteries, so I decided to put together a quick review.

EONE ET201, 2-in-1 multimeter, video review
2 8950
26-06-2017, 21:07
I decided to make a video version of my review of this unusual multimeter-oscilloscope, since some things are easier to show than explain in writing.
EONE ET201, a 2-in-1 multimeter, or how they crossed a snake with a hedgehog
25-06-2017, 01:48
Some time ago, I read a review of this multimeter, and recently I got exactly the same one. Since it was sent to me for testing, I had to write about it, so I’ll simply try to describe the device in my own words. Maybe someone will find something new here.
iLife A6 - Robot Vacuum Cleaner
24-06-2017, 15:20
Not long ago, I published a review of the iLife A4 vacuum cleaner. I also mentioned then that it was already an outdated model that had been sent to me by mistake, since the A4S had replaced it. This time, though, I'm reviewing a genuinely new model, albeit one in a slightly higher class: the iLife A6.
