TV tuner with an LVDS interface, or bringing an old monitor back to life.
23-02-2015, 16:14
I felt like adding a TV to the bedroom. In this situation, an ordinary person would go to the store and buy a new TV. But that didn’t interest me, and it seemed too easy, so I decided to build a TV myself—well, almost build one :) If you’re interested, come on in. I hope I won’t disappoint.
UltraFire C2 Cree XR-E, or just an average flashlight that thinks it's a thrower.
22-02-2015, 08:25
I know there are plenty of flashlight reviews on Muska. But this model caught my interest for its own reasons. I also wanted a simple flashlight for around the house—nothing fancy. I wanted one, and I got one, but things aren't quite so straightforward. Read on if you're interested.
DIN-rail voltage, current, and power meter. A powerful little unit.
13-02-2015, 22:20
There have been several reviews of popular wattmeters here, and I needed one too. But given the specifics of my work, I decided to get one with room to grow, so to speak. After the jump, you'll find photos of the outside and inside, along with a few measurements.
A power supply with two voltage outputs can sometimes come in handy, but alas. + Modification.

Recently, single-board mini computers such as Cubie, Raspberry Pi, and the like have become quite popular (in certain circles). But sometimes enthusiasts use these devices to build NAS storage, torrent downloaders, or something similar. These applications usually use high-capacity 3.5-inch hard drives, which in turn require two supply voltages: 12 V and 5 V. This power supply was intended for just such an application.
SSK 32GB: Not everything with a blue connector is USB 3.0.
8-02-2015, 17:49
While browsing various flash drive reviews online, I came across quite a few positive comments about SSK flash drives. I got curious, so I decided to try one myself. Read on to find out how it turned out and what USB 3.0 looks like from SSK.
SC6038 or a DIY charger for a 7.4 V battery.
6-02-2015, 03:07
Somehow, I got sidetracked from reviewing the various DIY projects that are my usual subject. In this review, I decided to make up for that. So, here it is: a charger with balancing for a battery made from two lithium cells.
Onda V891W, a tablet with every chance of becoming popular.

There aren't many operating systems for personal computers, tablets, and other devices. But only relatively recently has Windows begun making an aggressive push into the mobile device market. Some people are used to this OS on their home desktops and don't want to switch to another one. This review is intended mainly for that group of users. For me, a Windows tablet is primarily connected with my professional work. Anyway, if you'd like to learn more and see the tests and comparison, come on in.

A friend recently asked me to order him a little set like this on AliExpress. Why not help, I thought, and clicked the Buy button. Read on to see what I ended up getting.
Mastech MS8910, when you want something extra alongside a regular multimeter.
28-01-2015, 03:52
Another small addition to my collection of measuring instruments. This time it’s a small tweezer-style multimeter. This type of multimeter is primarily intended for working with SMD components. If you’re interested in the testing and teardown, read on.
12 V 5 A power supply, or how it might have been made.
25-01-2015, 15:13
I got a similar power supply, and naturally I wanted to see what they have in common and what’s different. I’ll also share my own power supply design. If you’re interested, read on.

MC34063: One of the most common PWM (pulse-width modulation) controllers, plus a brief introduction to how DC-DC converters work.

A while ago, I published a review showing how to build a PWM regulator using a KR142EN5A. I also mentioned one of the most common and probably cheapest controllers for DC-DC converters: the MC34063. Today, I'll try to add to that earlier review.
Unbranded 32GB microSD card.

After seeing so many flash drive reviews in a single day, I decided not to be left out and put together a review of my own—though without a roulette wheel or anything like that. I even remembered Gusev's line from the film *The Adventures of the Elektronic*: “I've got a voice too, you know. I want to sing too :)”

A decent fan for the Acer 5720Z and similar models.

One of my friends brought me a laptop not long ago. It needed Windows reinstalled and some tricky software installed. The laptop was pretty old and low on memory, so everything was painfully slow. I suggested adding more RAM, which we did, but one small, noisy problem remained: the old fan. We decided to fix it once and for all by replacing it. As they say, make hay while the sun shines—or in this case, get a fan in winter :)
A decent compact wireless keyboard, but with a few quirks.
8-01-2015, 22:41
In my work, I sometimes run into situations where I have to work with computers that only have a monitor connected. In those cases, I have to bring a keyboard and sometimes a mouse along. I decided to make things a little easier for myself.
TrustFire TF26650 5000mAh 3.7V: testing, a decent result, and a little DIY.
5-01-2015, 16:06
And so, my brief run of bad luck in experiments with various batteries has come to an end. As usual, I ordered the battery for a specific purpose, but read on to find out what it was and about the battery itself.
DS203, a decent, compact, simple oscilloscope at a nice price.
5-01-2015, 01:03
Another instrument joins my collection :). I've wanted a toy like this for a long time. It's hard to call it a full-fledged oscilloscope; it has its drawbacks, but its low price more than makes up for them. This model was reviewed quite recently, so this review will just add a few details and my comments.
A loose striped sweater, or a review of a women's garment through a man's eyes.
22-12-2014, 11:48
I decided to put down the soldering iron and microchips for a while and try writing a review that's very unusual for me. Of course, this isn't like the reviews by the respected kholigor, besalisa, and WOLFRIEND, who are old hands at reviewing products like these, but I did my best, so please don't be too harsh. And it's not even certain I'll write more reviews of this kind. Anyway, we'll see. If you're interested, come on in.
HDMI-to-VGA converter.
19-12-2014, 11:44
Because of the nature of my work, I often have to deal with a wide variety of devices. And as technology moves forward, familiar interfaces like VGA, composite and component video have gradually started disappearing from these devices. HDMI has taken their place. No, it arrived a long time ago, but until recently its arrival hadn't really bothered me. Anyway, I decided to make my work a little easier.
