Today I’ll try to tell you about one of the most popular DIY measuring instruments. Or rather, not just the instrument itself, but a kit for building one. I’ll say right away: you can find one cheaper already assembled, but what could replace the fun of building an instrument yourself? Anyway, if you’re interested, come on in :)

Continuing my series on electronic kits, this time I want to tell you about a device that can add to a beginner radio enthusiast’s collection of test equipment. It’s not really a measuring instrument, but it definitely helps with measurements.

I recently reviewed another kit, and today I'm continuing my short series of reviews of various DIY projects for beginner radio enthusiasts. I'll say right away: this is certainly no Tektronix, or even a DS203, but it's an interesting little gadget in its own way, even if it's basically a toy. Usually, before testing something, I take it apart first. This time, I have to assemble it :)

Thermally conductive rubber

The first time I saw thermally conductive rubber was many years ago in CD-ROM drives, where it was used to transfer heat from the motor drivers to the drive housing. At the time, I didn't think much about how useful something like that could be. But much later, I realized it could come in handy, so out of curiosity I ordered a couple of pieces in different thicknesses to try out. If you're interested, come on in.

Some time ago, I came up with the idea of building a simple but useful device. I had everything I needed at home, except for an ammeter-voltmeter, so I ordered one, received it, and started building what I had in mind. More after the jump.

With this review, I’d like to continue introducing readers to all sorts of useful electronic components. Reviews like this don’t come along very often, but I hope they can be useful too. Anyway, as always, the rest is after the jump.

Somehow, I got sidetracked from reviewing the various DIY projects that are my usual subject. In this review, I decided to make up for that. So, here it is: a charger with balancing for a battery made from two lithium cells.

A while ago, I published a review showing how to build a PWM regulator using a KR142EN5A. I also mentioned one of the most common and probably cheapest controllers for DC-DC converters: the MC34063. Today, I'll try to add to that earlier review.
