I got my hands on two more converters from the well-known Chinese company YZXstudio. One is simpler and cheaper, while the other is correspondingly more expensive and comes in a “top-of-the-line” configuration. The second one isn’t just a DC-DC converter, but a universal bidirectional converter. But I think it’s best to read all about them in the review.

I got hold of a few compact step-down converters, bought just to “try them out”—they’re very cheap, after all. Today I’m reviewing a pair of almost identical, yet different, boards.

Today’s review is about some uncommon, specialized devices that can nevertheless be very useful: powerful, compact voltage converters. What makes them unusual is their 36–75 V input voltage range, which is rarely used by DIYers. But I’ve been asked about converters like these several times, so I decided to fill that gap, since I haven’t come across any reviews of them.

This is already the third review of RuiDeng products that I’ve posted, but there are actually quite a few reviews of their products out there, so today I’ll try to add a little to the previous ones—especially since this converter is interesting in its own right. As always, I’ll take a look at it, run some tests, cover a little theory, and share my conclusions.

Today on my workbench I have an adjustable voltage converter with an output voltage of up to 50 V and a current of up to 20 A. As far as I know, this is the most powerful converter in RuiDeng's product lineup. What's more, its specifications are very similar to those of the ZXY-6020, which I reviewed earlier and will be comparing it with today.
