THL Super Box TV Box Sale

GearBest is holding a sale on this TV box. On June 22, the first 20 units will be available for S49.99.
Too bad I didn't hear about the sale sooner, but maybe someone will manage to get one.

As you can see from the specifications, the TV box has an ideal balance of RAM and flash storage: 2 and 16 GB, respectively. In my experience, that's the "sweet spot" for specs right now: you don't pay extra for more storage, but you also don't have to worry about "not having enough memory."

The key feature is the ability to install a hard drive. According to the manufacturer, it supports 2.5-inch drives (the kind used in laptops) with a 7 mm-thick casing. They say the maximum capacity is 1 TB, although I think higher-capacity models will work too, at least up to 2 TB.

Since the TV box supports installing a hard drive, its case is about one and a half times larger than those of regular models.

You can connect the TV box to your network either with an Ethernet cable at speeds of up to 100 Mbps or over Wi-Fi on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.
The TV box also supports access point mode.

Another interesting "feature" of this model is the advertised ability to control it remotely from a smartphone. I've come across this option on another TV box before, but unfortunately I can't remember which model.
I wouldn't say it's essential, but it could certainly be handy in some situations.

If I can get this TV box for $50 during the sale, I think it'll be a good buy.
