Some time ago, the ambitious Beelink GT-King Pro TV box was unveiled. Essentially, it’s an updated version of the Beelink GT1-K, and today I’ll take a look at this new model. As usual, I’ll inspect it, take it apart, run some tests, and share my conclusions.

The latest model of adjustable power supply—or, more precisely, a converter for building one—has appeared in the well-known RD official store. This post is something of a preview, since I don't have one in hand yet. But I'll have a question about that at the end of the post.

A few deals and a new product from Gearbest

Banggood is having a sale. This might be useful to someone.

Not long ago, Rokchip launched a new budget SoC, the RK3318. Calling it a competitor to Amlogic’s latest processors would be a stretch, so I picked one up for review mostly out of curiosity. In any case, as usual, the review will include an inspection, teardown, tests, conclusions, and a summary table.

One of the readers tipped me off about some pretty good prices on useful little items, as well as a couple of popular multimeters. Thought they might come in handy for someone. As more useful items turn up, they may be added to this post.

Not long ago, Beelink released another new product: a compact computer with a Core i3 processor. Though, in my opinion, it’s hard to call a fifth-generation processor new, since it was developed quite a while ago. Still, this computer turned out to be pretty good in its own way. But you can read all about it in the review, which covers the inspection, teardown, tests, and conclusions, along with a summary table.

A friend once brought me a couple of batteries to test. He bought them from us, but as far as I know, they came from AliExpress, either from the Liitokala store or Charger Battery Store. In any case, they’re essentially the same batteries, so I thought, why not test them? It might come in handy for someone.

Someone sent me information about a Banggood sale, so I decided to share it with readers.

I was asked to post information about this promotion, and I thought it might actually be useful—maybe you'll find something worthwhile.

Several times, people in the comments suggested I branch out from my usual review topics—power systems, computers, and TV boxes. That was part of the reason I agreed to review a product that’s way outside my usual territory: an RC car. The other reason? Well, how could a 45-year-old boy resist the temptation to race an RC car around the floor? :) Warning: heavy traffic!

I was offered the chance to try out an audio cable—not taste it, of course, but try it out in the general sense. I thought, why not? A cable is a useful thing and is sure to come in handy around the house. So today I’m reviewing two cables: a regular one with wires and an optical one.

A while ago, I reviewed a T2 receiver, and we also talked about how its functionality could be expanded a little by adding WiFi to the usual features. The problem was that receivers don't work with just any adapter, and my experiment with two "guinea pigs" confirmed that. During the discussion, someone told me which chip the adapter needed to use for the T2 receiver to "see" it. So I bought one and decided to put together a short review and report.

I got hold of a few compact step-down converters, bought just to “try them out”—they’re very cheap, after all. Today I’m reviewing a pair of almost identical, yet different, boards.

It’s already May, and I haven’t reviewed a single computer yet, so let’s fix that. Today we’ll look at a model that stands out from the crowd in its own way. Design is a matter of taste, of course—some people like one thing, others something else—but you have to admit this one is definitely original. As always, the review covers the exterior, teardown, tests, conclusions, and a final summary table.

My work often puts me in situations where a device connected to a computer via USB must not have a direct electrical connection to it. Otherwise, this can cause anything from severe interference to complete loss of functionality, as well as interaction between the computer’s power supply and the device under test. There aren’t many ways to solve this, and the simplest is to use galvanic isolation.

I’ve run into situations more than once where controlling devices directly from a computer over USB is easy to set up, quite reliable, and inexpensive, but still has its drawbacks. The main ones are that you’re tied to the computer and that simple adapters don’t provide galvanic isolation. This adapter was bought to solve all of these problems.

Here are a few coupons for TV boxes.
