Xiaomi Roidmi F8 cordless vacuum cleaner is now available for pre-order

A new Xiaomi Xiaowa robot vacuum cleaner has recently hit the market, and it is quite feature-packed for its price. A few days ago, the new Roidmi F8 handheld vacuum cleaner became available for pre-order. I wonder if it can compete with the big manufacturers? I've been using Xiaomi products for several years, and I'm sure this handheld vacuum will be powerful enough to handle, for example, pet hair.

App integration and high suction power
The cordless vacuum cleaner is made by Roidmi, one of the many companies funded by Xiaomi. Like many products under the Xiaomi brand, the cordless vacuum cleaner will also be integrated with the Mi Home app. It sounds crazy, but it makes sense: first, the app lets you set different suction levels, check the battery charge, and monitor the HEPA filter so you can replace it in time.

The operating noise level is 75 dB. For comparison, two people talking to each other produce a volume of about 60–65 dB. The vacuum cleaner's power is 415 W, and its suction power is 18,500 Pa. For comparison, my home corded vacuum cleaner is rated at 750 W, but it's much heavier and bulkier.

To get a better idea of how the vacuum cleaner works, here's the official promotional video. I like the magnetic mount, but I don't like that the dust container is rather small. By the way, the vacuum cleaner has already won the iF Design Award 2018.

With a fully charged battery, the vacuum cleaner can run for up to 55 minutes, which is certainly good for a cordless vacuum weighing 2.5 kg. The dust container has a capacity of 0.4 liters and includes a HEPA filter.

The package includes a wide range of accessories: buyers get various tubes and extension hoses, replacement filters, and different brushes. In the illustration below showing what's included, items 3, 4, and 7 are only available with pre-orders; the package contents will change later.

Thanks to the extra attachments, the Roidmi F8 can be used as a regular home vacuum cleaner with the long tube attached, or you can attach the short tube to clean your car, for example.

It's hard to say how good this new product from the well-known Xiaomi brand will be until reviews come out.
For those who find the price too high, here are a few alternative handheld vacuum cleaners at more affordable prices.
