USB tester or the finer points of Chinese mathematics
This video is partly a “cry from the heart,” in response to the many photos of capacity measurements taken with a device like this.
A tester like this is handy in itself, but you need to clearly distinguish between measurement and estimation. We measure with instruments that have been checked and are accurate, and estimate with inexpensive gadgets.
In the video, I show how the tester managed to turn a real capacity of 2000 mAh into a measured 2499.
I could understand it if it had displayed 2100–2120, which is the current it displayed multiplied by 1 hour. But how it managed to turn 2100–2120 into 2499 remains a mystery to me. I guess only the Chinese can multiply 2100 by 1 and get 2499, because I can't do that :)
