Another power supply: 12 V, 30 A, and 360 W
10-03-2017, 20:04
Continuing my series on power supplies, I ordered another one, this time more powerful than the previous one. This review won't be very long, but as always, I'll inspect it, take it apart, and test it.
Teclast Tbook 10 S, a tablet that needs no tweaking
7-03-2017, 12:59
I've taken apart and tested quite a few small computers and tablets, and I can say with confidence that overheating is the bane of the vast majority of these devices. But not long ago, I got my hands on a device that doesn't overheat, and I was pleasantly surprised. But is everything else just as good? Let's take a look, test it, and take it apart—as usual.
SanDisk SDDD2 or a two-in-one flash drive
2-03-2017, 21:55
I was browsing the Gearbest website and happened to come across this flash drive. I liked that it has two different connectors. Since both types of connection are common these days, I thought it might come in handy. And then, as usual, I ordered it, received it, and put together a short review :)
A Compact Uninterruptible Power Supply for Access Control Systems
27-02-2017, 13:42
I've reviewed quite a few different power supplies, and this is probably my favorite topic. But somehow I've almost completely overlooked one category of devices: uninterruptible power supplies, even though I do have one review on the subject. The device made a good first impression, but the reality turned out to be considerably more complicated. Anyway, as always, more after the jump.
Szsinocam SZ-IPC-7032CSW, or an IP camera with a 2-megapixel resolution
24-02-2017, 03:52
I happened to come across several IP cameras at a well-known store and decided to try one out. You can find out what I ended up "trying out", as well as what it looks like inside and out, in this review.
Popular Panasonic NCR18650B protected batteries
24-02-2017, 02:58
Today I decided to write a short review of my latest batch of the well-known Panasonic NCR18650B batteries with protection. I thought it was a useful topic, so I decided to share my experience.
STANLEY STSJ6501-A9, aka DeWalt DW349, or simply a jigsaw
19-02-2017, 05:10
My first—and until recently, only—jigsaw came along about 8 years ago. It helped me out quite a lot and got a little "tired," so I wanted to get it something newer and possibly better to help out. Today I'm going to talk about a STANLEY jigsaw, although things aren't quite that simple.
GORDAK 863, 3-in-1 soldering station
10-02-2017, 16:11
I've already posted several reviews of different soldering irons, from the simplest to some pretty sophisticated models. This time, though, I'll be looking at a more versatile option in this category of tools for electronics hobbyists.
Power Bank + charger for four 18650 batteries
9-02-2017, 16:33
Somehow, despite using a relatively large number of mobile devices, I get by without any extra “power banks.” Though it would be more accurate to say I get by without the kind most people are used to, since I do have a 12 V version. In this case, I was simply offered this Powerbank to review, and I thought—why not? At the very least, I can see how it’s made. As always, next up: inspection, teardown, testing, and modifications.
12 V, 20 A, 240 W Power Supply with Passive Cooling
7-02-2017, 05:01
It's been a while since I last wrote about power supplies, even though they're one of my favorite topics. I also somehow overlooked power supplies with the common output voltage of 12 V. This time, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and take a look inside a 12 V power supply with passive cooling. As always, the inspection, tests, and conclusions are below the fold.
A small protection board for assembling 2S lithium battery packs
26-01-2017, 01:20
I came across some small protection boards for packs made from two lithium batteries, so I decided to put together a little review—or a big photo dump, whichever you prefer :)
A power supply should never be like this
23-01-2017, 17:31
I've handled quite a lot of different power supplies, but every now and then I come across an epic case that I just have to tell you about.

Simple repair of a power supply based on the UC2845
114 11419
23-01-2017, 15:22
With this short article, I’m starting a series about repairing various devices that occasionally end up on my workbench. The first article will be about repairing a 5 V, 60 A power supply. I’m also planning to publish articles for beginners, so I’d be interested to know what readers would like to learn about.
Mele F10 Deluxe, a very handy learning remote
23-01-2017, 00:39
I came across a rather interesting wireless keyboard the other day—or, to be more precise, a keyboard + remote + learning remote + air mouse. Today, I’ll tell you about this four-in-one device in my review, and of course show you what it looks like both inside and out.
KingDian S280 480GB SSD, just a fast SSD
22-01-2017, 22:58
A few months ago, I finally "moved" to a new computer, and during the "break-in" period I ran into a problem caused by the nature of my work. Inspection, tests, and an explanation, as always, after the jump.
Lowest price for the Kmoon thermal imager
22-01-2017, 01:05
About a year ago, I published an in-depth review of a thermal imager. It’s an interesting and very useful device. Then, while browsing the website of a Chinese store, I happened to come across a very attractive price for this instrument.
RGB LED panel, or my first encounter with
21-01-2017, 03:02
A while ago, a friend asked me to help him buy components for a scrolling text display, which he wanted to use to spruce up his little shop. We'd only ever seen them at other places, so we started figuring out how to put one together. We picked what we wanted, I placed the order, got everything, and decided to try it out at home first. There'll be an inspection, a teardown, and some tinkering with various bits of hardware—as usual :)
A95X King, a small TV box based on the RK3229
17-01-2017, 11:27
I got my hands on a small TV box, but this one isn't based on the usual Amlogic chip. Instead, it uses a Rockchip, which has become less common lately. I came across it by chance and hadn't originally planned to review it, but since I have it, I decided to give you a quick rundown. A look around, tests, teardown, conclusions—same as always.
