SanDisk SDDD2 or a two-in-one flash drive
2-03-2017, 21:55
I was browsing the Gearbest website and happened to come across this flash drive. I liked that it has two different connectors. Since both types of connection are common these days, I thought it might come in handy. And then, as usual, I ordered it, received it, and put together a short review :)
Szsinocam SZ-IPC-7032CSW, or an IP camera with a 2-megapixel resolution
24-02-2017, 03:52
I happened to come across several IP cameras at a well-known store and decided to try one out. You can find out what I ended up "trying out", as well as what it looks like inside and out, in this review.
Power Bank + charger for four 18650 batteries
9-02-2017, 16:33
Somehow, despite using a relatively large number of mobile devices, I get by without any extra “power banks.” Though it would be more accurate to say I get by without the kind most people are used to, since I do have a 12 V version. In this case, I was simply offered this Powerbank to review, and I thought—why not? At the very least, I can see how it’s made. As always, next up: inspection, teardown, testing, and modifications.
12 V, 20 A, 240 W Power Supply with Passive Cooling
7-02-2017, 05:01
It's been a while since I last wrote about power supplies, even though they're one of my favorite topics. I also somehow overlooked power supplies with the common output voltage of 12 V. This time, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and take a look inside a 12 V power supply with passive cooling. As always, the inspection, tests, and conclusions are below the fold.
Mele F10 Deluxe, a very handy learning remote
23-01-2017, 00:39
I came across a rather interesting wireless keyboard the other day—or, to be more precise, a keyboard + remote + learning remote + air mouse. Today, I’ll tell you about this four-in-one device in my review, and of course show you what it looks like both inside and out.
KingDian S280 480GB SSD, just a fast SSD
22-01-2017, 22:58
A few months ago, I finally "moved" to a new computer, and during the "break-in" period I ran into a problem caused by the nature of my work. Inspection, tests, and an explanation, as always, after the jump.
A Few TrustFire 16340 Batteries and Testing Them
13-01-2017, 04:54
Not long ago, I wrote a review of TrustFire 14500 and 18350 batteries. At the time, I also mentioned that I’d ordered another size, but it had gotten stuck somewhere in transit. The batteries I ordered arrived recently, so I decided to put together a quick mini-review of them.
ORICO 2139U3, a 2.5-inch hard drive/SSD enclosure and a couple of cables
6-01-2017, 12:44
This is the kind of product I'd put in the “saw it, wanted it, bought it” category. That's exactly what I did when I spotted it about a month ago. I already have a similar little enclosure and use it quite a lot, but after getting another hard drive, I thought it would be a good idea to make backups of backups of particularly important data. There's not much to take apart or test here, so this will be more of an extended photo show-off :)
TrustFire batteries and more TrustFire: two TrustFire cells in 14500 and 18350 sizes
25-12-2016, 21:35
I recently got some batteries from one of the “well-known” brands called TrustFire, so I decided to put together a short review. Inspection, tests, conclusions.
K5 Pro, or what to do when you don't have any thermal paste on hand
22-09-2016, 14:28
Some time ago, one of my readers contacted me privately and asked me to do a small comparative test of several thermal interface materials. I was interested in doing a test like that too, especially since I'd already done something similar, so I decided to help out. But as it happened, the idea grew into a somewhat bigger test, albeit a rather unusual one.
A cute little kitty
4-08-2016, 13:40
Today I'm reviewing something radically different from my previous subjects. Not only because of its modest size, but also because the item I'm reviewing is completely outside my usual area. But I liked this kitten—and so did others—and I wanted to tell you about it.
A handy little thing, or let's talk about storage systems
27-04-2016, 02:41
Surely every radio amateur, and not just radio amateurs, gradually accumulates lots of different components, fasteners, and all sorts of other small bits and pieces. And all this stuff has to be stored somewhere, preferably not in one big pile. For this, people use either whatever they have on hand, such as matchboxes assembled into large organizers, or storage boxes bought for the purpose. Today I want to tell you about one such box.

Today I have a review of the kind that lets me take a break from chips, circuit boards, and other bits of hardware.
