RD 25A Cable Set
19-03-2024, 04:10
Of course, cables like these are often better and cheaper to make yourself, but in this case I just couldn't resist the sale prices and ordered two sets right away :) In any case, I think the information will be useful.
74HCT125, SGM6130, and a Little About Repairing a 3D Printer Board
7-07-2023, 14:05
This story began around February this year, when two 3D printer boards came in for repair along with a power supply. The power supply turned out to be a relatively easy fix, but the board repairs dragged on for quite a while. I recently got the missing component, though, so I can put together a short article about it.
Delta AFB0712SH fans, another attempt
1-07-2023, 21:52
This is already my third attempt at buying fans on AliExpress, and this time I wanted to try my luck with "Original For Delta AFB0712SH". I chose carefully, but...
Used SPA20N60C3 transistors—something strange
28-06-2023, 22:06
These are the third batch of transistors I've received. When I started testing them, I thought I'd give them a quick check and put together a short review, but things went completely differently from what I'd planned...
Used HY3708 transistors
27-06-2023, 15:23
Along with the FDA59N30 transistors I recently showed, I ordered a couple of other types. Today I'm reviewing one of them: the relatively low-voltage HY3708.
FDA59N30 Transistors, Attempt No. 2
25-06-2023, 20:13
I recently reviewed some FDA59N30 transistors I bought on AliExpress. I mentioned then that I’d ordered a couple dozen more, and here they are.
Decent leads for a bench power supply and alligator clips
31-05-2023, 11:49
Like many others, I use leads with alligator clips to connect a bench power supply or electronic load, and I felt like replacing them. Of course, I could make my own leads, and I do use some, but I was feeling a bit lazy. I searched AliExpress, found what looked like a decent option, ordered it, and decided to share my impressions.
More fans, or how I bought Sunon fans
28-05-2023, 13:01
As I’ve already mentioned, I needed some high-performance fans for one of my projects. First I bought a couple of AVC fans, then, almost as an afterthought, three more from Sunon. Tests showed that the AVC fans I bought didn’t live up to their specs, but it was hard for me to judge what they should be like since I had nothing to compare them with. Today, though, I’ll show you the Sunon fans and compare them with the originals.
EGS002 board and display for building a pure sine wave inverter
12-05-2023, 13:37
Today's review will be very short, partly because there isn't really much to review here, and partly because the project this board was intended for is still in development. Still, I hope you'll find it useful.
Used FDA59N30 transistors and a comparison with new ones
9-05-2023, 02:54
I’ve covered buying used components from AliExpress/Taobao on my blog several times, but I decided to play roulette once again, and it looks like I got lucky this time.
Universal QC and PD Protocol Trigger (Dummy Load)
26-02-2023, 02:58
Some time ago, I reviewed a universal trigger that was advertised as offering convenient controls and Power Delivery support, but in practice it turned out to be pretty mediocre. This time, I bought a few simple, compact models that turned out to be surprisingly good.
An Interesting but Slightly Strange Battery Protection Board
6-02-2023, 03:30
While preparing a couple of upcoming reviews, I needed to assemble a battery pack. Since the cells are lithium-based, they usually need a protection board. I originally bought this one for other batteries, but it came in handy here too.
A soft, great cable for a soldering iron, but...
4-02-2023, 03:07
While I’m getting material ready for some other reviews, I decided to put together a short one. I remember getting carried away last time and saying I’d try to keep things a bit shorter, and today seems like just the right occasion :) In short, I’ll show you a pretty good cable for a soldering iron.
Emulator for controlling a QC/PD power supply
23-02-2022, 15:46
This device is more commonly called a trigger, though that’s not quite accurate. Somehow, the name just stuck. I decided to order one mostly on principle—“just to have it.” And since I’ve got it in my hands now, why not test it and show what it can do?
M3 Plastic Fastener Kit
11-09-2021, 12:30
Another review in the “nano” series, and this time it’s about a very useful little item to have around: fasteners.
Colored Button Caps
5-09-2021, 19:08
Today I have a nano-review of caps for push buttons, also known as “tact switches” or “tactile switches”—whichever term you prefer.
Illuminated push-button switches for 16 mm mounting holes
6-01-2021, 15:59
For that same modification of one of my devices, I wanted some nice buttons—not just any buttons, but ones with backlighting. I found some on AliExpress, ordered them, got them, and put together a review in case they might come in handy for someone.
A couple of options for stranded wire with silicone insulation
3-01-2021, 13:02
I recently bought a couple of types of silicone-insulated wire, in 8 and 12 AWG. I hadn't planned to write about them, but I liked the wire so much that I decided to put together a short review after all.
