UPS-1000 Uninterruptible Power Supply from Novatek-Electro
22-11-2020, 23:04
My story with uninterruptible power supplies began back in the late ’90s and early 2000s—not as a user, but more on the manufacturing side. That’s why I was doubly interested in seeing what’s being made today and remembering how we used to do it. So this review will probably have a touch of nostalgia.
Low-profile Mean Well LRS-100-48 power supply
15-09-2020, 14:00
I’ve reviewed an LRS-series power supply before, but it was a higher-power model with active cooling. This time, I got my hands on its little “brother,” so today I’ll introduce it to you. Inspection, tests, conclusions—as usual.
Step-down voltage converter with an output current of up to 20 A
9-09-2020, 15:39
I needed a powerful step-down voltage converter for one of my projects, so I decided to give it a quick test before putting it to use. A quick look, some tests, and my conclusions.
LRC-60-1050 and LRC-60-1400 power supplies (drivers) for LEDs up to 60 W
18-08-2020, 03:24
The second part of my introduction to Light Route products. In the previous part, I covered 60 W power supplies with 12 V and 24 V outputs. Today, I’ll be looking at drivers for powering high-power LED modules used in lights, floodlights, and street lamps.
A pair of 60 W power supplies rated for 12 and 24 V
31-07-2020, 02:08
I've reviewed quite a large number of different power supplies by now, but today's review is a little different. No, the power supplies themselves are much the same; the difference is the manufacturer. If I'm not mistaken, this is my first review of power supplies made in Ukraine.
Adjustable Voltage Converter RD6012(W), New Version from Rui Deng
8-07-2020, 11:43
Last fall, a very interesting adjustable voltage converter, the RD6006, went on sale. It stood out from previous models with its large display, convenient controls, battery charging function, and WiFi connectivity. But discussions soon started: 60 V is certainly nice, but 6 A is a bit on the low side. The manufacturer replied, “Don’t worry, a more powerful version will be out in about six months.” In fact, it took longer, mostly because of the virus, but the manufacturer didn’t abandon development, and today I’m reviewing the version with an output current of up to 12 A.
NVVV S-800-70 Power Supply for the RD6012 Converter
25-06-2020, 11:59
Some time ago, a new version of the converter called the RD6012 went on sale. Since it also needs a power supply, I ordered a suitable one from the same store—in this case, an 800 W unit with an output voltage of 70 V. This review won't be very long. You'll see why as we go, but there will still be some tests.
Choetech PD6008 power supply (charger) with an output power of up to 100 W
10-06-2020, 20:43
At last, I’ve got my hands on a PD power supply that can deliver up to 100 W from a single output. As usual, I’ll take a look, test it, and of course, take it apart.
Sale on the new RD6012 converter
27-05-2020, 11:54
The RD official store has a new product: the adjustable RD6012 voltage converter. I thought this might be useful.
Modiary MDA238 42 V 2 A charger for 10S lithium battery packs
22-05-2020, 21:34
A few times, I reviewed chargers for lithium batteries. They were designed for 3S packs, but the bigger issue was that their circuitry was far too simplified. After that, I was asked repeatedly which charger to buy that would be safer for the batteries and wouldn't need any "modifications"—even if it cost more. So I ordered a charger that supposedly belongs to the more proper type. As always, I'll go into more detail in the review.
Mean Well PSC-160A-C: fixing shortcomings, modifications, and an addendum to the review
11-04-2020, 03:15
Just recently, I posted a review of a power supply with a UPS function, and criticized it. Some of that criticism was justified, and some wasn’t. Today I want to talk about that, and also explain how to modify this power supply to get what I consider a better balance between the charging current and the main output current.
Mean Well PSC-160A-C, 160 W power supply with UPS function
1-04-2020, 16:47
Today I'm reviewing a rather unusual power supply. What sets it apart from the ones I've reviewed before is its uninterruptible power supply function.
Choetech Q6006 power supply (charger) with 61 W PD support and GaN technology
27-03-2020, 12:04
You’ve probably heard of GaN technology by now, even if you’re not particularly interested in the world of modern power supply design. But this is the first time I’ve had a power supply like this, and today I’ll try comparing it with an almost identical model from the same company. Inspection, tests, comparison, measurements—as usual.
Sanmim GPA40B power supply, 12 V 40 W
15-03-2020, 02:31
I left this power supply for what you might call “dessert,” partly because it stands out from the rest of the units shown earlier, and partly because I simply liked it more than the others. In any case, that’s not particularly important, and today I’ll tell you about a power supply that needs no modifications.
Used 12 V 5 A power supplies
13-03-2020, 22:24
Continuing my series of power supply reviews, today I’m looking at some used boards. They have relatively convenient output specifications, which is why I ordered them for review. As always, the review includes a detailed inspection, schematic, tests, analysis, and conclusions.
Geekcreit 36V 180W Power Supply, Part Two
7-03-2020, 11:50
When I first started writing this review, I had no idea where it would lead. In the end, I inadvertently ended up with a “two-in-one” review, even though it’s essentially about the same power supply. As always, the review will cover the inspection, schematic, tests, more tests, and conclusions.
24 V 8–10 A power supply
5-03-2020, 15:00
I got the chance to test some more power supplies, and today I’m reviewing the first one. As always, the review will include an inspection, analysis, circuit diagram, tests, and conclusions.
CHOETECH Q4004 power supply (charger) with 60 W PD support
5-02-2020, 00:15
This is the second product from the Choetech store that they sent me to review and test. This time, I’ll be taking a closer look at a charger (power supply) rated for up to 60 W, with Power Delivery support and a USB Type-C output. As usual, I’ll inspect it, run some tests, take it apart, and share my conclusions.
